Common questions
The app says my iPhone cannot scan+
Room capture uses the LiDAR scanner, which Apple only fits to Pro models: iPhone 12 Pro and later. Support for other iPhones is being worked on. You can see where it sits on the roadmap in the You tab inside the app.
My network name shows as hidden+
Apple only reveals the WiFi network name to apps with location access. Grant it in Settings → WiFi Heatmap → Location. Your position is never stored or sent anywhere; it is purely how iOS gates that one piece of information.
Nothing on my network answered+
Some office, hotel and guest networks block devices from reaching the router directly. The app falls back to timing against a public address, which still compares rooms accurately, and tells you when it has done so.
Why does it not show dBm like other apps?+
Because iOS will not give it to us, or to them. There is no public API for WiFi signal strength on iPhone. Apps displaying a decibel figure are estimating it. We would rather show you four things we genuinely measured.
Restoring a purchase+
Settings → Restore purchases inside the app. Purchases are tied to your Apple Account, so they follow you to a new iPhone with no account of ours involved.
How do I find WiFi dead zones in my home?+
Walk through your home with WiFi Heatmap on your iPhone or iPad. It draws your rooms from your walls and paints your WiFi across them: green where it is strong, red where it dies. The red patches are your dead zones.
Where should I put a WiFi extender or booster?+
WiFi Heatmap marks the spot where your signal gives up and shows where a booster would go, plus how much of the dead space it would rescue.
Do I need an account?+
No. There is no account and no sign-up. Every scan and reading stays on your device and nothing about your home is uploaded.

Can I show the results to my landlord or provider?+
Yes. You get a report you can hand over without explaining a thing.
